Why do you want to become a Full time worker?
Three years ago, I answered this question flawlessly with so
much passion and conviction. Three years ago, I jumped to the sea of uncertainties and took a leap of faith away from the greener pasture that this world
promised me.
After three years of highs and lows, of reaping and sowing, of
rejoicing and battling; I came to ask, “why do I STILL want to become a
Fulltime missionary?”.
I thought jumping the cliff is the most courageous thing
that I can ever do for the Lord, only to realize that I was wrong. The most
courageous thing I’ve ever done over the years is staying afloat despite and in
spite of circumstances that I was in. Greatest and real courage in this mission
is conveyed in:
- remaining faithful
amidst difficulties
- accepting your
whole self and transcending from your frailties
- enduring and
persisting the journey even if it’s stormy
- to remain humble even if you are in the pedestal of
praises
- straining forward even if it is difficult to stand after
you have fallen
- denying your own
desires to protect your anointing
There were days that I was tempted to envy the success of my
friends and classmates. There were days that I wandered and wondered the “what
ifs” – I am not a fulltime missionary. There were nights that I went
home feeling so blue and empty. There were mornings that waking up and taking a
step to start my day is a heavy task.
There were days that I have doubted but never a day that the
Lord stopped calling me, never a day that He missed to make His presence known.
-
Mat 6:25 - When tribulations came and I succumbed
to worries
"This is why I tell you; do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes?"

-
Jer 29:11 – when I was tempted to fear the
uncertainties of my future
“I alone know the plans I have for you,
plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future
you hope for.”
-
Rom 8:18 – When faced with difficulties and
straining forward is too hard to do
“I consider that the sufferings of this
present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us”
“My grace is sufficient for you, for power
is made perfect in weakness”
-
Romans 9:17 When I feel unworthy and doubt my
anointing
“This
is why I have raised you up, to show my power through you that my name may be
proclaimed throughout the earth”
It’s been three years since I said “YES” to Him – three blissful
and “over-graced” three years.

Should I fail to decide to remain in the state of grace so I will continue the mission that the Lord called me to do, I would have deprived myself from experiencing the joy and fulfilment that this mission brought me. In the 3 fruitful years, I realized that I should not just believe in my anointing but I should protect it as well – even from my own selfish desires and frailties.

Doing the mission for the Lord has brought me great things
beyond what I can give and what I have given. Being a missionary is a grace
that should be handled as a fragile glass. The Lord has His own sweet ways of reminding me of how grand, vast and
boundless His love is – He brought me to Singapore to excite me more for the
great years to come! To refuel me for the next great adventure!
***** Doing the mission in Singapore is a breath taking missionary
experience. I will be sharing more of it on my next post. :D
