Antidote for Self Esteem's Carbon Monoxide
7:19:00 AM
I stared at my blood - tinged vomitus and said to myself... "I have to end this or I'll else gonna die".
I was bulimic 9 years ago. I had bad eating habits and elicited gag reflex so I can vomit. But I put an end to it when what came out from my mouth is nothing but blood and water.
What moved me to do such foolishness? It was a false belief that I am not a good enough. It was like someone whispers me all the time that my talent is divisible by my size,
so I succumb to the pit of "INSECURITY"
What made me decide to stop and transcend from my insecurities? I was afraid to die!
The National Center for Health Statistics estimates that
about 9,000 people admitted to hospitals were diagnosed with bulimia in 1994,
the latest year for which statistics are available, and about 8,000 were
diagnosed with anorexia.
About 1,000 women die of anorexia each year, according to
the American Anorexia/Bulimia Association. One cause of these eating disorder is that some young women feel abnormally pressured to be as thin
as the "ideal" portrayed by magazines, movies and television.

Our insecurity comes in different forms but they are detrimental. They work like Carbon Monoxide, the existence is unnoticed until it becomes toxic.
Over the years, it was a hard battle for me. It took a lot of conscious effort and prayers not to fall in that dark pit again. I disagree to what an actress once said, "there is no cure for insecurities". Believe me there is! Over the years of battling, these are what I considered antidote.
1. Believe that you are beautiful! Discover and appreciate your asset! - Dear Friends I am asking you to discover your PHYSICAL asset, 'cause justifying that you have a good heart or your smart anyways can only make you feel ugly physically. :D You have a beautiful smile, nice lips, mesmerizing eyes, shiny hair, flawless skin, red lips.... You have one or more physical assets that you failed to acknowledge because you are too focused on the size of your hips, or the acne that never leaves you or the nose that either too small or too big for your face! :D
2. Appreciate yourself every morning! - Before going out of the world and become conscious on what other people's perception about you, look at the mirror and reminder yourself that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. How you see yourself affects how other people see you.
3. Discover and Enhance your strength! - What are the things that you are good at? Are you a writer? good in public speaking? Dancer? Singer? Can you cook? an artist? What are the things that you are capable to do? All of us has special skills but not all of us discovered the giftedness in us. You are unique! You are special! Believe me you are!
4. Look good and feel good - You dont need to be lavish in clothes or to spend much in those beauty products. Wear clean & comfortable clothes. Take note of your hygiene :D Know the right color, right cut and right clothes for you. Know the basics of fashion. Dont be too colored too printed nor too fashionable :D
5. Do things for yourself not for others (I am not asking you to be selfish though) - If you decide to loose weight it is because you want to be physically healthy. Look good to feel good not because you want to look good for that apple of your eye! Making other people as your motivation can only motivate you temporarily.
6. You are significant! You are of high value! - no heart break nor rejection nor failure can depreciate your worth! our VALUE AND WORTH is CONSTANT, what is variable is how we appreciate and value that worth.
7. Love yourself! - forgive yourself if you fail. Spend time for yourself. Commend yourself for the good things that you have done. Be patient with yourself when its pace to be better is slow :D
We are fearfully and wonderfully made!
You and ME are fearfully and wonderfully made!
You and ME are fearfully and wonderfully made!
You are amazing, just the way you are! :D
