In My Shoes
6:32:00 AM
I’ve heard a lot of horrible stories of children ranting and
cursing their parents, and it breaks my heart every time.
A lot of sons and daughters grew up hating their parents for
their imperfections. Children hate their parents for:
- Being overprotective and autocratic
- Not spending quality time with them
- Their promises are unfulfilled
- Frequent scolding
- Not practicing what they preach
In my point of view, children may have reasons to hate their
parents but they have more reasons to be grateful that they have one. I grew up
not having a father and it’s never easy. If you are reading this and you still
have a father, you are one of the people that I envy a lot. I’m telling you dear
friend, you are blessed!
How I wish I still have a father to run to, someone
who will be with me when going gets tough, a father who will guide me in every
decision that I will make. How I wish I still have a father.
Our parents are not perfect, they have their sets of
imperfections, and they have their own stories of brokenness. My mom is not
perfect, she is a control freak and she scolds me and my brother as if we are her 10-year old
children. But I love her beyond her imperfection. I am more than grateful to
have a mother who raises me and my brother to be the person that we are right
now.
May we learn to forgive our parents for what they are and for
what they are not.
May we learn to love our parents for what they are and for
what they are not.
How I wish I can let you borrow my shoes for a day so you
can fully understand how blessed you are!
I am praying that may you have a better relationship with
your family.
You are blessed, take care of that blessing!
"In the same way you younger people must submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you must put on the apron of humility, to serve another; for the scripture says, "God resists the proud, but shows favor to the humble." Humble yourselves, then under God's mighty hand, so that he will lift you up in his own good time" 1Peter5:5-6
