Thursdays with the Called

3:30:00 AM

Were you once caught in a crowd where you feel so small and unworthy to be in their midst?
For two Thursdays now, Ace (my mission partner) and I, together with other Youth leaders, climbed the hills  of  Talavera House of Prayer to share our  life story to a bunch of priests .

I was fidgeting in anxiety and felt so insignificant with my unworthiness.  How can I convey God’s message  to the people whom I used to receive communion and the sacrament of reconciliation? How  can I inspire these people who never fail to inspire me? Who am I before them? I am but a  mere youth who has nothing but an extreme love for God and a strong passion to serve God.

Despite of  too much self inflicted drama,  I found myself  sharing  my struggles and God's  victory in front of a number of priests in the Archdiocese of Cebu.

I stood before these priests considering my missionary life as nothing compared to the life that they chose, but everything changed when Msgr. Tajanlangit stood up, moved to tears and declared, “I honor you youth leaders for serving the youth, because I know how difficult it is. I encouraged you fellow priests to please support them in their service.”

I've never felt an affirmation so strong like the affirmation that I received in that fateful Thursday.

This mission is not about completing great things but it is about fulfilling the call that the Lord called us to do. We may be meek or great, may be a sinner who strives to be renewed or a holy man who strives for holiness; we are all called for a distinct purpose for the greater glory of God.

“yet I consider life of no importance to me, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that the I received from the Lord Jesus,to bear witness to the gospel of God’s grace.” – Acts 20:24
